Brass Compass Replica

Hand-cast in solid brass, aged with ammonia fuming to replicate 14th-century patina. Coordinates etched correspond to the actual Silk Road waypoint at Dunhuang.

Based on a compass excavated near Samarkand, 1987. Smithsonian archive ref. SI-2204-C.
